JURA HALL UPGRADE & ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS PHASE 1
In August 2010, after a frantic two weeks of pulling all the information and funding streams together GATE Development Officer Alison Lindsay was successful in her LEADER application for funding to realise the much needed Car Park and outdoor amenity area for Jura Hall. This community development was an ambition of the previous IATE Project and is included in The Jura Community Plan Booklet.
This collaborative project between Jura Hall and Jura Development Trust was match-funded against Jura Development Trust’s Climate Challenge Fund award on behalf of The Hall. The Car Park will take shape along the north foreshore from The Hall on land transferred from The Ardfin Estate via The Jura Development Trust to The Hall, effectively building with armoured stone frontage into the sea. Architects drawings of this, also showing the Phase 2 Hall Extension ambitions are on display from August until the CCF refurbishment begins in The Hall’s windows – please have a look! Planning Permission is already in process.
It is hoped that not only will these improvements provide disabled access parking, along with the easing of parking congestion and improving road safety for regular users of The Hall and hub area of Craighouse – but also an extra amenity space for countryside access and island events – book your ringside seat for Regatta 2011!
Many thanks to everyone involved, notably: Jura Community Council and all The Hall’s neighbours and neighbouring businesses for their letters of support and good wishes. Watch this space and Jura Hall’s notice board windows for further updates.
The Climate Challenge Fund refurbishment works to The Hall are due to commence in autumn 2010 – once The Jura Music Festival has finished. A contractor for the work has now been appointed, after full pre-qualification and tender process – overseen by Stewart Consulting. We are looking forward to a warmer, more energy efficient, freshly clad building emerging.
