Tesco to accept online orders for islanders

Today Walton’s of Oban got some great news… well done Eric!!

Full information will come from Eric but please be patient when placing any orders.

After seven years of misplaced hope, and seven weeks of increasingly intense pressure, Tesco have finally gone live with an islands only set up on their website. This will provide access to 300 baskets per day, available only to islanders. We have had many meetings with them and their Scottish .com manager came to inspect our operation on Wednesday. We happily passed and they seem to have actually gone live this morning.

It will mean putting in your own postcode for home delivery and for the first time, PA60 will be accepted by the website. We will collect and deliver as normal. Tesco will also remove their own home delivery charge from island post codes. If this all works, then Tesco shopping will become noticeably easier. We will just need a bigger truck.

There will be a transition period and islanders may fill up the slots quickly, but this is really great news.

A formal email will go to everyone, hopefully by Monday.

Best regards from an exhausted but happy Eric
